- Restored the checkbox to allow you to turn off sound
output through the MIDI keyboard for when autodetection fails.
- Improved the autodetection algorithm so that it doesn't
make mistakes on keyboards as often (it will now work
properly with the Yamaha PSR-295, which has different ID's
on its input and output devices).
- Suppressed drum tracks when playing through a keyboard is
detected, as they usually sound terrible EXCEPT for the
PSR-295, which works as a special case. Most General MIDI
drum tracks will now work properly on the PSR-295. We may
want to add more options to allow configuration of drums on
keyboards we've never seen before, but that's a different
debate.

Version 1065
|
Features
|
|
|
The primary change to this build is that the pseudo-notes
theme uses realistic-looking notation on the short objects
(half notes, quarter notes, whole notes, dotted notes,
etc.).

Version 1066
|
Features
|
|
|
- The notes theme has a new, light blue background.
- The staff rendering was completely changed to Chris's
new "clef over the keyboard" style.
- Short notes render very differently. All three note
types work (colored vs. uncolored), and extras like the
color dropout challenge work as expected.
- The long notes are now in the "thick colorful tubes"
style, with no stems.
- Chords look a lot better. Colored notes look a lot better.
|
Known Issues
|
|
|
- The world screen has NOT been changed yet; it still has
the old 'parchment' art for the preview. This will be fixed
soon.
- We have not made any changes to note animations yet.
There's still some debate over the best way to do this.
- The 42-pixel animation on long notes is not yet lined up
correctly.
- We don't support inverted note stems, so some types of
chords cannot display properly. In general, we don't support
full notation, which means lots of things display a little
strangely if you're used to reading music.
|
Version 1067
|
Features
|
|
|
- The world screen for notes has new art, with
proper thumbnails and object previews.
- The animation for long objects in notation mode
is cleaned up.
- All long notes in all themes now have special art
for 'head-only' notes (sixteenth notes). This
is to avoid the 'cut-off' look.
- The three short-note styles all use the hatching
rainbow bird as the note-hit animation. The egg
color matches note colors.
|
Known Issues
|
|
|
- We still don't support inverted note stems, which
prevents certain chords from displaying correctly.
More generally, a lot of our notation display will
not perfectly match musical conventions.
- Notation is currently always done in horizontal
mode. We are ignoring the "Horizontal mode"
checkbox when in this mode.
|
Version 1068
|
Features
|
|
|
- (Cosmetic) Clefs no longer bleed through to the
options screens on the freeze menu.
- (Cosmetic) The hatching rainbow bird now hatches
sideways (relative to the notes' motion), so that
its orientation matches that of the original logo.

Known Issues

Some previous builds had an issue in which playing a song
that is in a flat key and which contains an A-flat above
high C with the short-notes theme turned on would freeze the
game. This build fixes that issue.
|
Version 1070
|
Features
|
|
|
- Many of the "no sound" problems should be fixed now (see
issue 1612). This issue seems to appear when a single
computer has had many different types of MIDI drivers
installed -- a lot of the drivers conflict with each other,
and confuse our software. The software should now be more
difficult to confuse.
- Keyboard sizing is much more generic now. In advanced
mode, you may select any keyboard size from 1 to 7 octaves.
- Many cosmetic bugs have been fixed. Note animations should
be better lined up. The "piano roll" notation may be used in
both vertical and horizontal mode.
- Formerly, if you went into the freeze menu, clicked and
HELD the mouse on any button, then pushed escape, then
released the mouse button, the game would crash. This is now
fixed.

Version 1071
|
Features
|
|
|
- There was a possible crasher in the metronome. It only
showed up in the Debug build, but may have caused rare
problems in the release build on certain machines. It is now
fixed. This bug was not in Adminitrack, as far as I know.
- Some of the issues with selecting keys on the track screen
have been fixed. It may not be perfect yet. (1618)
- Note label alignments were fixed. (1617)
- A boundary bug on the song selection screen was fixed. (1615)
- The audible metronome's timing was tweaked. It should feel
a lot closer to the beat now, although this will vary
somewhat depending on what instrument you're using. (1614)
- The time signatures have been fixed - no more 3/9 or 6/9.
(1613)
- The "Horizontal mode" box is forced selected when you
choose a note theme. It will return to its previous setting
when you choose something else. (1610)
